Public Programs Internships

The Graham Foundation seeks students of architecture, art, art education and history programs interested in gaining experience at a non-profit arts organization and foundation through a two-semester internship beginning in January 2013. Selected applicants will learn through active participation in the administration of the foundation’s grants and public programming.
Public programs intern responsibilities include:
- Greeting visitors and providing information about the Graham Foundation’s exhibitions, public programs, grantmaking, history and identity
- Staffing public and evening events
- Assistance with exhibition research, installation, and maintenance
- Recording and tracking visitor attendance
- Assistance with ongoing public programs and grantmaking history initiatives
- Assistance maintaining and promoting the bookshop
- Maintaining and growing Graham Foundation contacts and mailing lists
- Administrative tasks including answering phones, taking messages, and sorting mail
The Public Programs intern will be organized, responsible and detail oriented. She or he will ideally possess:
- An engaging personality
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Interest in learning about and promoting the Graham Foundation’s programs and history
- Initiative and the ability to work independently
- Knowledge of 20th and 21st century art and architecture history
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and InDesign, is a plus
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other contact management software is a plus
- Architectural drawing and knowledge of construction and fabrication is a plus
Start date: January 2013
End date: August 2013
Flexible work schedule: 2 days per week, 10:30am – 5:30pm, and regular evening events.
The internship is unpaid.
