May 10–November 23, 2025
PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity premieres at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Venice. Supported by a grant from the Graham Foundation, the exhibition in the United States Pavilion is organized by the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, DesignConnects, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
PORCH explores the American porch as a space of generosity, community, and cultural expression. The exhibition features a design team comprised of Marlon Blackwell Architects, Stephen Burks Man Made, D.I.R.T. studio, and TEN x TEN. A newly constructed “front porch” at the US Pavilion welcomes visitors and invites them to gather, reflect, and connect. Within the Pavilion, the exhibition highlights the American porch’s multilayered character, value, and contemporary purpose through the presentation of inventive, diverse, and sustainable contemporary projects and practices by 54 exhibitors—including architects, landscape architects, designers, artists, nonprofits, and individuals from across the US and its territories, selected through the national open call for projects.
Support from the Graham Foundation continues the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to the US Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia, including past exhibitions such as Into the Open (2008), Spontaneous Interventions (2012), OfficeUS (2014), The Architectural Imagination (2016), Dimensions of Citizenship (2018), American Framing (2021), and most recently, Everlasting Plastics (2023).
