1996 Special Focus Initiative: LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE In 1996, the Graham Foundation introduced the Special Focus Initiative, a new biennial program designed to encourage applications in particular areas of research and program development. The 1996 Special Focus Initiative gave special consideration to applications for programs or projects which relate the study, practice, or theory of landscape architecture to a broader conception of architecture and the built environmentparticularly in the context of architectural education. Approximately one third of the 1996 grants were Special Focus Initiative projects. |
